What Are You Doing To Make Ends Meet?

When is Enough, Enough?

Before becoming an entrepreneur, I always thought that I would always have security with a career. I worked as a counselor and I just knew that I would never have to worry about employment. right? WRONG! Life started to happen and I gave birth to my son and everything as I knew it changed. I realized that the future of my son and my family was my responsibility and no one else’s, including a JOB. As we all know, in this economy JOBS are not safe! So I decided to bet on myself and venture out into the world of entrepreneurship and I have not looked back since! I love being a stay at home mom that pays the bills. I now have the freedom to visit my son at school, visit family members, and do all of the things that I want to do. My business has afforded me the income that is allowing me to pursue my passion, which is being a life coach for teenage girls. I believe that a blessing isn’t a blessing until you share it with someone else.

Here is an overview of my at home business:

Ready, Set…Get Fit!

Image

The above picture is of 82 women who are ready to get back in shape! About two months ago I was introduced to a program called Black Girls Run. Upon researching I discovered that they had a chapter in Philadelphia and yesterday was a new member meet up on Boat House Row. I was absolutely amazed at all of the women who were there and ready to take charge of their fitness. They were from all backgrounds, shapes, and sizes. There were runners, walkers, joggers, and woggers (those who jog and walk). I discovered that I am a Wogger! I Wogged 3 miles and it did not feel like work! I had an awesome time and I will be joining these ladies next week for their 5:15am run. I am looking forward to getting fit and I believe that this is a great first step!

Finding Your Inner Peace

Image

If you follow my blog, you know that I am on a journey into recognizing and embracing my spirituality. One thing that I struggle with is prayer. It is not that I don’t pray, I just can’t seem to quiet my mind long enough to let my thoughts and emotions pour out through prayer. because of this my prayers feel rushed and I am simply checking ‘prayer’ off of my To Do List for the day. Someone told me a long time ago that meditation can lead to more meaningful and tranquil prayer. Unfortunately, I always though meditation was something that only Buddhist monks where trained to do. I did not think that “little ‘ole me” could meditate. I was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! Just this morning I signed up for a FREE meditation class in the city and I am excited!!! I am looking forward to being at peace when I pray.

What are your thoughts on meditation?

Any tips or suggestions?

Who Is Directing Your Movie?

Image

I DO NOT BELIEVE IN COINCIDENCES.

Last Saturday, I was blessed to be apart of an amazing conference on Exploring Your Call To Ministry followed by an amazing Sabbath service. The topic of the sermon was “Being Obedient”. The very next day I was watching the OWN Network’s Super Soul Sunday and was in complete awe of what I was watching. The guest on the show was a man by the name of DeVon Franklin who wrote a book entitled, “Produced By Faith”. The author is also one of the top movie executives in all of Hollywood. In his book, he compares life to a movie script and you and God are co-writing this script but ultimately God is the director. One word…WOW!! I must admit that I have always used the “life as a script” metaphor but I thought that I was the DIRECTOR. Shame on me! Rightfully so, I have since fired myself from the director position because it is one that I clearly am not qualified for. I tried directing my life and have failed. I have noticed that it is very difficult for someone to be the main character and director of a movie. The movie tends to be all about the main character or from the main character’s vantage point. I am now submitting my script to God and allowing him to direct my movie.

Something that Mr. Franklin said also struck a chord with me. He said that it is important to embrace your true self and your relationship with God and then you will have true success. As a young Christian woman who is truly embracing my faith for the first time, I thought that I had to be someone else because who I was wasn’t good enough. (shame on me!) I have now embraced the fact that I am clay that is being molded and although my shape is being transformed into something greater, I can still be ME! And that is AWESOME!!

Who is directing your movie?

Are you even the main character in your movie or an extra in someone elses?

I look forward to hearing from you all and enjoy the video!

Organize Your Dreams!

“First comes thought; then organization of that thought, into ideas and plans; then transformation of those plans into reality. The beginning, as you will observe, is in your imagination.”

Napoleon Hill

I recently began reading Napoleon Hill and I AM IN LOVE! In my opinion he is one of the most thought provoking American authors…ever. His teachings and philosophies are simple yet profound. The above quote gave me such an “ah-ha” moment. I intepreted it to mean: Having an imagination is great, but through organization of thought and execution of action, your wildest dreams can become your reality.

I challenge you and myself to organize our dreams! Create a vision board. Now with social media tool such as pinterest you can have a virtual vision board!

The more tranquil a man b…

The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good. Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom.
– James Allen

Are you at peace? Are you willing to quiet the noise of your mind and focus on what is positive and calm?

This weekend I want us all to practice “quieting” our thoughts. Let’s track our success and experience! I look forward to catching up with you all on Monday!  #GodIsGreat #DesignYourLife

The Art of Being Humble

Image

I believe that being humble is not only a state of mind, but a constant exercise of the mind. I have to constantly remind myself, while running my business, that I am nothing without my team. There are no milestones that I can achieve without the concerted effort of others, it’s just impossible! And because I am a Christian, I know that I am not the person that I am today without the grace of God. So everyday, I say to myself, “God without you, I am nothing.”

I challenge you today to exercise the act of humility. Be sure to rid yourself of the thoughts of your ego. Try submitting yourself to the goals of others. I know that you can do it…I Believe in YOU!!!

Are You Willing to Look Past Today?

Image

Today is an amazing day for me!! Why, you may ask? Because I took a look through my telescope of life and saw a phenomenal future that is waiting for me. Now, I just have to take the necessary steps to make it a reality. Many times people get so caught up in the here and now, that they rob themselves of VISION.

Vision is to see something in the future that gets you excited and motivated today.

Can you see your future? What does it look like? I want to you to picture every detail of your success in the future and set goals so that you can design the life you want. You only get one life, make it the best one EVER!

The Power of Choice

“You and I are essentially infinite choice-makers. In every moment of our existence, we are in that field of all possibilities where we have access to an infinity of choices.”

Deepak Chopra

Do You Have a Daily Mode of Operation?

In April, I attended a social media workshop for entrepreneurs hosted by The Network For Women In Business. One of the most profound things that I was able to implement is creating a Daily Mode of Operation or DMO. Some of you reading this are familiar with a DMO and some are not. Your DMO is simply a list of things that you must do everyday for your business or life to function is a productive way. If you are a stay-at-home parent your DMO is completely different then someone who works 12 hours/day in corporate America. Whatever role or position that you have, establishing a DMO is very important. Here are the first five things in my DMO:

  • Check/Send Emails
  • Post Blog
  • Create To Do List
  • Make Phone Calls
  • Review Appointments

Entrepreneurs should create a solid DMO and adhere to it. DMO’s eliminate procrastination after it becomes a habit. It also provides structure in your day, and ultimately your business.

I challenge you to create a DMO for yourself. Make sure that you include everything that needs to get done during a typical day for you. Track your progress after 2 weeks, I KNOW that you will be successful!
