You Matter…A Lot!

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”  Marianne Williamson

Hi Everyone,

This quote is pretty profound. If you are here today that means that you are here on PURPOSE! Make today count and give it your all!!!

Don’t Let what others say about you dictate what you do or who you are! Fail Your Way To the Top!

Gearing Up For Greatness

Image

Have you ever found your self excited packing for a vacation? You think about how much fun you are going to have and all of the people you are going to meet. However, you still don’t exactly know what is going to happen. But guess what…you want to be prepared for whatever may happen. That exhilarating feeling of anticipation and adventure is what DRIVES you to be prepared.

You want to make sure that no matter where you are or what you do, you will have all the necessary “things” so that you can have the best time possible. I know that there are some of you that are on the BRINK of phenomenal success that may be foreign to you. You may be an entrepreneur that has been putting everything into their dreams and visions. You may be an advocate for a cause and are dedicated to being apart of a movement. Or you could just be someone that is tired of just surviving through life and wants to live a life of purpose and design.

If you are in an “in between” season in your life but you are still able to smile and be positive…START PACKING FOR GREATNESS! Something amazing is about to happen in your life and you need to be prepared mentally, physically, and spiritually. There is nothing worse than embarking on the journey of a lifetime and not being prepared for it.

Awakening to Intuition

Image

“If prayer is you talking to God, then intuition is God talking to you.” –Dr. Wayne Dyer

Did You Hear That?

Have you ever been alone thinking about something and you begin to hear a voice speaking to you? Don’t worry, I am not trying to re-create a scene from Paranormal Activity or Ghostly Encounters *smile*. There have been many times when I am pondering over making an important decision and I can hear a voice guiding me on what to do. For those of you that don’t know I am a Christian and I firmly believe in the Holy Spirit. As a child, I was afraid of the Holy Spirit because I thought it was a ghost that told you what to do or possessed you. As I matured in my knowledge of self and spirituality, I have come to the conclusion that the Holy Spirit (for me) is intuition, insight, inspiration, and motivation. Think of it as God’s “tutor” for us, if you may. If you are a Christian then you believe that he created us all with free will. So that means that he can not FORCE us to do what is right in his eyes…right? But through the Spirit, he can make our hairs stand up when something isn’t right, or give us an uneasy feeling when we are about to make a bad decision, etc. We DO NOT have to listen to our “tutor” , but if we do it will awaken us to the infinite possibilities of life and our potential.

When You Know, You Know…

I challenge everyone reading this post to be still and become aware of your spirit. Listen to your inner voice. We are the only species on earth that can SEE and HEAR our thoughts. Once you know, that you know, you are now embarking on a journey of self-discovery and total life fulfillment.

Turn Authenticity Into Success

Image

“I had no idea that being your authentic self could make me as rich as I’ve become. If I had, I’d have done it a lot earlier.”
Oprah Winfrey

I have spoken with many people these past couple of weeks about what does it take to be successful. Most of them were teenagers looking for “the Answer” or “the Secret”. I feel that the secret to success lies in who you really are. I was one of those people who thought that you had to be privileged or “in the know” to truly be successful and that was FALSE.

What Is Your Authentic Self?
I discovered my true self by going all the way back to when I was at an age ABOVE influence…6 years old. Up until that age I believed that I could do and be anything. I believed that I could change the world. I believed that God was my best friend and I was his princess. I believed that I was brilliant and beautiful. They keyword is: BELIEF. After the age of 6, my belief started to deteriorate. I wasn’t as confident in myself. I didn’t hold myself to a high regard. My belief shifted from God and myself to other people. Before I knew it I was a 28 year old, unaccomplished, rambling rose (ramble: to move aimlessly from place to place).

In 2010, I had a instant paradigm shift; that of which is still in process. I knew that the only way that I would become successful in all areas of my life, I had to reinvigorate my BELIEF! I had to revert back to the fearlessness and confidence that I once had as a little girl. In that little girl dwells my true, authentic self.

My challenge to everyone is to think back to a time when you believed that anything was possible, or when you believed that you were the best because YOU said so. I want all those who read this to tap into their authentic self and embrace it. Within your authentic self lies your ability to be successful and whatever it is that you want.

The Stress-Free Teenager

Image

As we mature into adults, many of us forget what it was like to be a teenager. I always hear parents saying, “I don’t know what is wrong with her ?” or “He needs to snap out of it!”. How easily we forget the challenges and struggles of  being a teenager: Good Grades, Self Esteem, Relationships, Spirituality, Finances, etc. I mentor rising high school seniors and I was overwhelmed by their responses to the question, “What causes you stress?”. I came up with a few solutions to aid them in reducing certain stress factors in their lives.

  1. Create Your Own Personal Escape- this can be in the form of prayer, reading, listening to music, talking a walk, etc. Whatever activity you can do alone that will allow you to decompress.
  2. F.O.C.U.S.- Follow One Course Until Successful, try not to focus on too many things at once. When your ‘To Do List’  exceeds 5 things, it becomes overwhelming.
  3. Take Care Of Yourself- Mind, Body, and Soul. Monitor the food and drink that goes into your body. Evaluate your thoughts and ideas.

These suggestions will not eliminate ALL of the stress in your life,  but it will be a start to managing the stress- causing agents in your life.

Do You Share the Same Love?

“No woman wants to be in submission to a man who isn’t in submission to God!”
~T.D. Jakes~

In my opinion, being in a relationship is like being on the same team and your coach is God. As I begin reading the bible, I am starting to realize that it is our “play book” for life and in this book there are specific instructions on how to be a better child, mother, father, leader, servant, husband, wife, etc. If you are in a relationship and you are TRYING to make today better than yesterday and TRYING to be a better person, it can become very discouraging when your partner does not embrace this. It’s important for both partners to understand that ultimately God calls the shots, so if you both are not following his instructions you ARE NOT going to WIN your relationship.

You do not have to be an extremely religious person to embrace your spirituality. Also, everyone’s spiritual walk is different. However, if you are in a loving relationship with someone, you want to make sure that the two of you have a loving relationship with GOD. It is through that relationship with God that the strength and endurance in your own relationship will present itself.

Finding Your Inner Peace

Image

If you follow my blog, you know that I am on a journey into recognizing and embracing my spirituality. One thing that I struggle with is prayer. It is not that I don’t pray, I just can’t seem to quiet my mind long enough to let my thoughts and emotions pour out through prayer. because of this my prayers feel rushed and I am simply checking ‘prayer’ off of my To Do List for the day. Someone told me a long time ago that meditation can lead to more meaningful and tranquil prayer. Unfortunately, I always though meditation was something that only Buddhist monks where trained to do. I did not think that “little ‘ole me” could meditate. I was WRONG, WRONG, WRONG! Just this morning I signed up for a FREE meditation class in the city and I am excited!!! I am looking forward to being at peace when I pray.

What are your thoughts on meditation?

Any tips or suggestions?

The Definition of You

de·fine-

to explain or identify the nature or essential qualities of; describe.

“Who are you?”  When asked this question, most people respond by stating what it is that they do or what type of role or position that they have. i.e: father, daughter, teacher, etc. I was recently challenged to answer this question void a particular role, status, and or position. Needless to say, it was very difficult to do because in life we tend to assign who we are with what we do. It is when we are stripped of our titles, roles, and positions that we discover who we truly are.

Here are some questions that will allow you to dig deep into your true self:

What are your strengths and weaknesses?

What are your beliefs and values?

Are your actions in line with your beliefs?

If the answer is no, you are not being your true self.

Once we clearly define who we are, we must align it with our beliefs. This is what builds character. Once our character is established we must use our actions to communicate our character to others. This is not an easy task at all…trust me! But once we have mastered our character the journey into discovering our purpose begins. I would love to hear from some readers what their definition of self is. Please post in the comments section below.

Discovering Your “Now”

This blog is a journey to discovering one’s true self. Once you are aware of your true self, that is when you can tap into your greatest potential and begin living the life you are destined to live.

Every day you are given the chance to experience life anew. All too often people allow the headaches, nightmares, and heartaches of the past control their present, which by default alters their future. Your past is a memory, a mere thought. We tend to let these mere thoughts dictate our actions in the present. How absurd! I am here to encourage you and to let you know that who you were does not exist TODAY. If you woke up this morning and said, “Today I am going to be the best me that I can be”, and you focus all of your energy into that mission…guess what?! That is what you will become! Isn’t that awesome?!

So I challenge you (and myself) to start every day with a mission to be better! Focus on the excitement in knowing that today you can decide to be whatever it is that you want because yesterday doesn’t matter. Let’s direct all of our energy and our thoughts into making today the best day ever! This is the start to laying the foundation of an amazing future!
